Senior Spotlight: Tanner Maskey

LAMONI - The Graceland University athletic department is honoring a Spring sport senior who did not get the chance to finish their final season. This week we are honoring the seniors on this year's baseball team. The baseball team had just over half of their 2020 campaign remaining when the season was officially cancelled. Our next baseball Senior Spotlight is Tanner Maskey.

Tanner has been a one-year member of the Yellowjacket baseball program as he transferred from Southern Nazarene University this past season. He primarily played shortstop in the 2020 season for Graceland and hails from Springfield, Illinois.

Maskey started in all 14 games that he played in during the shortened season. He held an impressive .396 batting average and .771 slugging percentage through 48 total at bats. In his 19 hits, he had ten extra base hits and drove in 13 runs.

In addition, Maskey was ranked top 50 nationally in the NAIA in triples with 2. Defensively, he had a .889 fielding percentage in 63 total chances. He was also involved in seven double plays as a middle infielder this season.

Graceland University wants to thank Tanner for his committment to the baseball program and Graceland Athletics as a whole. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
