GU Dance Shines at Nationals with Top-Three Finishes in Hip-Hop and Jazz
LAMONI, Iowa —The Graceland University Dance Team turned in a stellar performance this past weekend at the 2025 College Classic National Championships in Orlando, Florida, earning national recognition with a second-place finish in the NAIA Hip-Hop division and a third-place finish in NAIA Jazz.
Competing against elite programs from across the country, the Yellowjackets delivered show-stopping routines that captivated judges and audiences alike. In the hip-hop category, Graceland secured second place with a final score of 85.72, trailing only Avila University, who claimed the national title with a 89.88. Graceland edged out third-place Baker University by just 0.42 points in a tightly contested division.
In the jazz category, Graceland continued its strong showing, finishing third with a score of 80.70. The team placed behind University of St. Francis (83.54) and national champion Avila University (89.96), further cementing its place among the top NAIA dance programs in the country.
Head coach Kat Albertson praised her team's energy, commitment, and growth over the season.
"I'm incredibly proud of the way our team performed on the national stage," Albertson said. "These results reflect the hard work and passion our athletes bring to the floor every day. This is just the beginning — it's a great springboard for where we're headed."
The 2025 campaign marks one of the most successful national performances in recent Graceland Dance history and sets a strong foundation for the program's future competitiveness at the national level.
