Mari Fine Returns as Head Dance Coach at Graceland University
LAMONI, Iowa — Graceland University Director of Athletics Brady McKillip has announced the appointment of Mari Fine as head dance coach, marking her return to a role she previously held from 2018 to 2021.
Fine brings extensive athletics and coaching experience to the position, having served in multiple roles within the department since 2007. She worked as Office Manager for 17 sports before transitioning into a full-time Athletic Operations role in 2012. Her coaching background includes serving as the Club Cheer sponsor and coach from 2002 to 2009, helping guide the program prior to its elevation to varsity status, and later leading the varsity cheer program through 2012.
In 2018, Fine took on the role of head dance coach, a position she held for three years before stepping away. Her familiarity with the program and student-athletes provides continuity as she returns to lead the dance team.
In addition to her athletics experience, Fine has served Graceland University in multiple administrative roles. She began in October 2000 as a full-time temporary employee supporting Human Resources during a system transition, while also assisting in Admissions and Accounting. From 2001 to 2007, she held a full-time position in the Student Accounts office before moving into Athletics.
"I'm grateful for the chance to step back into this position," Fine said. "Graceland has been a big part of my life, and I'm looking forward to working with the team and continuing to build something positive for our student-athletes."
"Mari knows this program, our department, and our university as well as anyone," McKillip said. "Her experience and steady approach make her the right person to lead our dance team forward."
A former multi-sport athlete in high school, Fine was a four-year starter in both basketball and softball and participated in cheer, dance, and choir.
She has two children, Tyson McLain and Danica (McLain) Stoll, a Graceland alum, both of Lamoni, Iowa, and is a grandmother to Nola and Zella Stoll.
Fine will assume her duties immediately as she focuses on recruiting and preparing her team for next season.
