Yellowjackets Roll Past William Woods in Conference Victory

LAMONI, Iowa — The Graceland University women's flag football team delivered a dominant performance Wednesday evening, defeating William Woods, 61-19, in conference play at the Morden Center. The Yellowjackets improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while William Woods dropped to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in conference action.

Graceland's offense set the tone early, scoring on multiple short drives and capitalizing on defensive takeaways to build a 46-0 halftime advantage. The Yellowjackets totaled 404 yards of offense, including 382 passing yards, showcasing efficiency in the quick game and vertical passing attack.

Quarterback Sierra Flores led the offense with 382 passing yards and six touchdown passes, consistently executing in the pocket and extending plays when necessary. Flores also added two rushing touchdowns, contributing to eight total scores. The receiving unit was paced by Ahmari Byrd, who recorded 11 receptions for 226 yards and two touchdowns, including multiple explosive plays over 50 yards.

Graceland's defense generated six interceptions and limited William Woods' efficiency in key downs, disrupting timing routes and forcing turnovers in the short field. Fee Kinville highlighted the defensive effort with a pick-six, while the unit consistently applied pressure in passing lanes and forced negative plays.

The Yellowjackets established control through tempo and situational execution, converting scoring opportunities inside the red zone and maintaining discipline in coverage schemes. William Woods found late scoring in the fourth quarter, but Graceland maintained separation behind consistent offensive production and defensive stops.

"Our execution in the passing game and our ability to create turnovers were key tonight," head coach Aaron Richardson said. "We emphasized quick reads, flag discipline, and rallying to the ball defensively, and our players responded with a complete performance."

Graceland now turns its attention to the Cougar Classic in Indiana, opening play Friday, March 20 at 5 p.m. CDT against Campbellsville at Bishop D'Arcy Stadium in St. Francis, Indiana. The Yellowjackets will continue tournament action Saturday with a 9:30 a.m. CDT matchup at Saint Francis, followed by a 12:30 p.m. CDT contest against Siena Heights, both at Bishop D'Arcy Stadium.
