Graceland Shut Out at Midland in Road Conference Contest

FREMONT, NebraskaThe Graceland University women's flag football team fell 26-0 to Midland on March 31 in conference play, as turnovers and stalled drives limited offensive production throughout the contest.

Graceland was held to 122 total yards and finished with five interceptions, disrupting multiple possessions and preventing sustained red-zone opportunities. The Yellowjackets recorded 10 first downs and 141 passing yards, with Sierra Flores completing 12 passes for 95 yards, while Karissa Garcia added 46 yards through the air.

Midland established early momentum with two first-quarter touchdown drives, both capped by short-yardage pass completions and successful one-point conversions. The Warriors added two second-quarter scores, including a one-play, 67-yard possession, to extend the lead to 26-0 at halftime. Graceland was unable to convert on fourth down opportunities or generate scoring drives in the second half, despite multiple defensive stops.

Defensively, Graceland totaled four sacks and three interceptions, led by Kylie Overkamp with three sacks for 23 yards and multiple tackles for loss. Sadie Lee recorded nine total tackles, while Ahmari Byrd contributed a sack and seven tackles, helping limit Midland's rushing attack to negative yardage.

"We moved the ball at times, but turnovers and missed conversions on key downs impacted field position," head coach Aaron Richardson said. "Defensively, we created pressure and generated takeaways, but we need to capitalize offensively in scoring situations."

Graceland returns to action Saturday, April 4, traveling to face Southwestern. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CDT at Jantz Stadium in Winfield, Kansas.
