Yellowjackets Season Ends in KCAC Semifinals; Program Reaches New Heights

OTTAWA, Kansas — The Graceland flag football team saw its historic season come to a close Saturday with a 51-6 semifinal loss to Ottawa (Kan.) at AdventHealth Field.

Graceland (10-10) generated 211 yards of total offense, led by quarterback Sierra Flores, who threw for 158 yards on 19-of-36 passing with one touchdown. The Yellowjackets' lone score came on a 2-yard touchdown connection from Flores to Jaida Lammie in the second quarter, capping a 66-yard drive.

Ahmari Byrd led all receivers with nine catches for 70 yards, while Delaney Mondino contributed 44 receiving yards and recorded an interception defensively. Defensively, Sadie Lee posted a team-high seven total tackles, anchoring a unit that forced a takeaway early in the contest.

Despite the result, the Yellowjackets reached a milestone the day prior, earning the first postseason victory in program history with a quarterfinal win over Midland University.

"This group established a standard for Graceland flag football," said head coach Aaron Richardson. "We competed, executed our system and built something that will carry forward. I'm proud of how this team represented the program."

The semifinal marked the conclusion of the most successful season in program history, as Graceland also bids farewell to Richardson, who elevated the program to new competitive levels during his tenure.

With the loss ending the 2026 campaign, the Yellowjackets will not advance to another contest.
