Graceland Men’s Golf Secures Third at Home Invitational

LAMONI, Iowa — The Graceland University men's golf team placed third overall at the Graceland Fall Invitational on Tuesday at Lamoni Golf and Country Club, finishing with a team score of +18. The Yellowjackets competed against a deep field of conference and regional opponents, showcasing depth across the lineup.

Southwestern Community College (IA) [A] won the team championship with a +7 finish, while North Central Missouri [A] followed in second at +11. Graceland edged North Central Missouri's B squad by two strokes to claim sole possession of third place.

The invitational included representation from Park University (MO), Central Methodist, Simpson (IA) and multiple independents, creating a strong field of both NAIA and NJCAA programs.

Individual Performances

The Yellowjackets were paced by Jonathan Paramananthan, who tied for second overall with an even-par finish (E). Paramananthan's round placed him alongside competitors from Park and North Central Missouri, just four shots behind the medalist, Freddie Muggeridge of Southwestern CC, who closed at -4.

Kallum Webb continued his strong start to the fall season, posting a +2 round to finish tied for sixth. His consistent ball striking and accuracy off the tee provided stability to the team score.

Saxen Hii added a +6 performance, tying for 22nd, while Clayton Wichman recorded a +8 to place tied for 31st as an individual competitor. Colton Dennis followed with a +10, tying for 40th, and Trevor Shelton rounded out the Graceland lineup at +12, finishing 43rd.

Coach's Perspective

Head coach Kevin Brunner highlighted the significance of the team's performance on their home course.

"Our players showed composure throughout the invitational," Brunner said. "We were consistent in ball striking, but we need to focus on improving scoring opportunities on the greens. Playing at home gave us the chance to see how our preparation translates under tournament pressure, and I'm encouraged by how our lineup responded."

Brunner emphasized that the invitational also provided benchmarks for individual and team development heading into the remainder of the fall schedule.

The Yellowjackets will now turn their attention to their next event.

The Graceland men's golf team will next compete Sept. 28 (Sun) at 11 a.m. CDT at the Waldorf Fall Invitational at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club in Albert Lea, Minn.
