Graceland Men’s Golf Finishes Ninth at Spring Invitational

 MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Graceland University men's golf team competed at the Graceland Spring Invitational, finishing ninth overall with a two-round total of 668 (+92) at Mozingo Lake Golf Course (par 72, 7,086 yards) .

The Yellowjackets opened the event with a team round of 340 and improved to 328 in the second round, marking a 12-stroke reduction between rounds .

Clayton Wichman led Graceland, finishing tied for 27th with a 165 (+21). Wichman recorded rounds of 85 and 80, posting the team's lowest second-round score .

Colton Dennis followed, finishing tied for 33rd with a 166 (+22) after rounds of 84 and 82 .

Jonathan Paramananthan placed tied for 36th with a 167 (+23), carding rounds of 83 and 84 .

Saxen Hii finished tied for 41st with a 170 (+26), improving from 88 in round one to 82 in round two .

Drew Jones rounded out the team scoring, placing tied for 53rd with a 175 (+31) on rounds of 88 and 87 .

Competing individually, Trevor Shelton recorded a 171 (+27) to finish 44th overall, posting rounds of 91 and 80, one of the largest improvements between rounds for Graceland .

As a team, Graceland totaled 340 strokes in round one and 328 in round two, reflecting improved scoring efficiency across the lineup.

The tournament was won by Southwestern Community College (Iowa) with a 617 (+41), followed by a tie for second between North Central Missouri College and Southwestern (Kansas) at 627 (+51) .

Individually, Freddie Muggeridge (Southwestern CC) earned medalist honors with a 150 (+6) over two rounds, including rounds of 72 and 78 .

The event featured 10 teams and multiple individual competitors, with scoring conditions remaining consistent across both rounds on the par-72 course.

Head coach Kevin Brunner noted the team's second-round improvement.

"We improved our scoring in the second round and saw more consistency across the lineup. The focus continues to be on reducing errors and improving scoring opportunities," Brunner said.

The invitational served as part of Graceland's spring schedule as the team continues competition against conference and regional opponents.

Graceland returns to action Monday, April 6, at 10:00 a.m. CDT at the Clarke Invite Day One, held at Eagler Ridge North Course in Galena, Illinois.
