Yellowjackets Close Strong at Evangel Gold Classic, Finish Seventh Overall
FREMONT HILLS, Mo. — The Graceland University men's golf team placed seventh at the Evangel Gold Classic, finishing with a 54-hole total of 918 (301-322-295) at Fremont Hills Country Club.
The Yellowjackets closed with a final-round 295, their lowest round of the tournament and their best 54-hole performance in some time.
Graceland recorded three individual personal best rounds on the final day. Clayton Wichman shot a 70 (-1), Colton Dennis posted a 71 (E), and Trevor Shelton added a 77 (+6). Jon Paramananthan finished the round with a 76.
Dennis led the team overall with a 224 (+11), followed by Paramananthan (227, +14) and Wichman (228, +15). The remaining scores were Drew Jones (247) and Shelton (252).
The team showed improvement in the final round after opening with scores of 301 and 322 over the first two rounds.
"We're playing our best golf at the right time," said head coach Kevin Brunner. "This was a good step forward heading into conference."
Graceland will next compete at the Heart of America Conference Championship on April 27-28 at Outlaw Golf Course at Paradise Pointe in Smithville, Missouri.
