Graceland Men’s Golf Concludes Season at Heart of America Championship
SMITHVILLE, Mo. — The Graceland men's golf team closed out its spring 2026 campaign with an 11th-place finish at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship, held at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex. The Yellowjackets posted a 54-hole team total of 931 (308-309-314) in the stroke play format, marking the conclusion of their season against a competitive conference field.
Graceland's lineup demonstrated steady balance across all three rounds, with consistent play across the course's hilly and water-heavy layout. Jonathan Paramananthan led the Yellowjackets, finishing 28th overall with a 227 (+11), carding rounds of 75, 76 and 76. His performance reflected a controlled approach throughout the tournament.
Clayton Wichman followed closely, finishing tied for 31st with a 229 (+13). Wichman opened with a 75 and improved his second-round positioning with a 74 before closing at 80, maintaining consistent ball-striking through the first two rounds.
Drew Jones added a total of 239 (+23), while Colton Dennis recorded a 244 (+28) across three rounds. Trevor Shelton rounded out the scoring group with a 249 (+33), highlighted by a final-round 77 that showed adjustment in his game from day one, marking his lowest tournament round in his young career.
As a unit, the Yellowjackets emphasized solid putting and intentional shot control to navigate a course that measured 6,819 yards (par 72). The field featured nationally competitive programs, with Missouri Valley capturing the team title at 855.
Head coach Kevin Brunner reflected on the team's performance and development across the championship stretch. "Our play over the last two days has been a vast improvement from how we played the course during the fall preseason tournament," Brunner said. "While the results were still not enough to compete for the conference championship, the guys showed poise, mental toughness and preparation. We will continue to improve with this young group."
The conference championship marked the end of the 2025-2026 season for Graceland men's golf, concluding a campaign focused on progression and competitive exposure within the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
With the season now complete, the Yellowjackets will shift focus to offseason development and preparation for the next competitive cycle. Graceland does not have an upcoming meet scheduled, as the conference tournament served as the final event of the year.
