Yellowjackets Close Fall Reserve Season with Strong Defensive Effort

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. — The Graceland University Reserve Men's Soccer team faced a challenging doubleheader this past Sunday in Heart Conference action, taking on Rockhurst University and Baker University in a pair of tightly contested matches that highlighted the Yellowjackets' resilience and growth.

In the opening match against Rockhurst, Graceland battled hard but ultimately fell 3–1. Forward Max Dutton earned Man of the Match honors after netting the Yellowjackets' lone goal. His relentless work rate, composure, and leadership in the attack set the tone for Graceland's offensive efforts throughout the match.

The Yellowjackets rebounded with a strong showing against Baker University, earning a gritty 0–0 draw behind a disciplined team effort. Forward Victor Chirinos was named Man of the Match for his high motor, consistent pressing, and commitment to generating chances. His pace and determination kept the Baker back line under pressure for the full 90 minutes.

Defensively, Graceland held firm in both contests. The back line of Malachi Parks, Owen Dye, Owen Freeman, and Brady Waters delivered organized and composed performances, limiting scoring opportunities and maintaining structure under pressure. Freshman goalkeeper Landon Wickham started and played all 180 minutes across both matches, showcasing maturity beyond his years. His vocal leadership, confident handling, and clutch saves were key to keeping the Yellowjackets competitive throughout the day.

With the fall season now complete, Graceland will turn its attention to offseason development. The team will look to build on the progress made this fall and continue preparing for the upcoming spring schedule.
