Bio

Bryan Courtney enters his 11th season as Head Coach and 19th overall with the Graceland University men’s soccer program. After returning to Lamoni in 2006, Courtney spent eight seasons as an assistant coach before taking over as head coach in 2014. His leadership has helped guide the Yellowjackets through multiple competitive eras in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, all while maintaining a commitment to player development and program culture.

A Graceland alum and decorated former player, Courtney arrived on campus in 1994 after graduating from Truman High School in Independence, Missouri. He quickly made his presence known — earning multiple Heart Player of the Week honors, All-Conference selections, and serving as a two-time team captain. In 1997, he led the Yellowjackets to their first-ever men's soccer conference championship.

Courtney graduated in 1998 with a degree in Psychology and began his professional career as a Youth Specialist for the Missouri Division of Youth Services, where he served for seven years. In 2006, after a year of volunteer service in Adelaide, South Australia with the World Service Corps, Bryan and his wife Kacey (Graceland alum, Class of ’04) returned to Lamoni. He rejoined the Graceland soccer staff and later completed a second degree in Secondary Education.

Kacey Courtney now works as a mental health therapist serving the local community. Bryan and Kacey live in Lamoni with their three children: Ava, Lilah, and Allister.
