Graceland Earns Multiple Sprint and Field Event Wins at Cornell Invitational

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa — The Graceland University men's outdoor track and field team recorded multiple first-place finishes and top-three performances at the Cornell Invitational, finishing fourth overall with 44 team points in a competitive field.

Graceland was led on the track by Tael Jean, who captured first place in the 100 meters with a time of 10.85 seconds, posting the fastest mark in the field. He was joined on the podium by Kaeden Monday, who finished third in 10.98 seconds, giving the Yellowjackets two top-three finishes in the event.

In the 200 meters, Brice Taylor secured a first-place finish with a time of 22.30 seconds, leading the field in the sprint event. Jean added depth in the event with a ninth-place finish (22.98 seconds), contributing to the team's sprint group performance.

Graceland also earned a first-place finish in the field events as Caden Israel won the pole vault with a clearance of 3.80 meters, accounting for a full 10 team points.

Additional scoring performances came in the horizontal jumps, where Garrison Allen placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.00 meters, followed by Cole Milks in seventh (5.87 meters).

In the throws, Luke Hass recorded a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 11.64 meters, while Hunter Brumley placed 11th in the hammer throw with a mark of 39.51 meters, contributing to the team's field event scoring.

On the track distance side, Bradley Harris led Graceland in the 800 meters with a ninth-place finish (2:10.99), while Payton Miller posted a 12th-place finish in the 400 meters (55.34 seconds).

Head coach Tom Shore emphasized execution in the sprint group and field events.

"We had strong performances in the sprints and pole vault, and our ability to place multiple athletes in scoring positions is a positive step," Shore said. "The focus moving forward is refining race execution and continuing to improve marks across all event groups."

Graceland returns to competition on Saturday, April 11 at 9:00 a.m. CDT at the Central Missouri State Mule Relays at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field in Warrensburg, Missouri.
