Grand View Moves Past Graceland

LAMONI, Iowa – Graceland University had a rough night against top ranked Grand View University, falling 53-0.

Head Coach Zack Mullins said, "We value wrestling the best teams in the country and having them right here in our own conference. Grand View showed us why they are the No. 1 team in the country tonight. There is a lot for our guys to take away from this and I'm confident they will take this in stride and use it to propel them forward."

Dashiell Mann kicked off the night at 125 lbs Graceland. Joel Timmons won by tech fall (19-3) over Mann.

GU then forfeited at 133lbs. The following weight class, 141 lbs, GVU's Gryson Brenna took down Shea Swafford by major decision (9-1). Brandon Seward then fell by fall (1:17) at 149 lbs to Derek Miller.

Coulter Allen then battled Mason Miller in a close fight, before dropping the match 7-5 at 157 lbs. Then at 165 lbs, Ryan Niven took down Dakota Britt by tech fall (16-0). The next weight class, 174lbs, Graceland forfeited.

The night concluded with Grand View claiming the final three weight classes (184, 197, and 285) by fall over Zach Kraus (1:06), Ryan Paige (1:17) and Will Samuels (1:05).

The wrestling team will next compete at the Missouri College Invite on Jan. 20-21.
