DES MOINES, Iowa – Graceland University wrestling was shut out by No. 2-ranked Grand View, 53-0, Tuesday night at the Viking Event Center.

Three forfeits (125, 184, 197) gave Grand View an early edge. The remaining matches went to the Vikings by tech fall, fall, or major decision.

Results included:

  • 133: Gabe Gonzales (GV) tech fall over Davion Wilson, 16-0 (2:18)

  • 141: Marckis Branford (GV) fall over Corbin Porter (1:34)

  • 149: Khyler Carstarphen (GV) tech fall over Joe Frazier, 19-3 (3:19)

  • 157: Bryce Boumans (GV) major dec. over Khalil Hampton, 17-7

  • 165: Cam Robinson (GV) tech fall over Stephen Dickerson, 22-6 (6:24)

  • 174: Kristopher Ketchum (GV) tech fall over Jeraimiah Nyberg, 17-1 (4:50)

  • 285: Shane Cook (GV) tech fall over Kazz Hyson, 18-3 (7:00)

Head coach Evan Hansen said the team fought through a tough test:

"Grand View is No. 2 in the country for a reason. The score doesn't show the effort. We're climbing the mountain."
