Graceland Men’s Cross Country Finishes Sixth at Grand View Vikings Invite

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Graceland University men's cross country team earned a sixth-place team finish at the Grand View Vikings Invite on Saturday morning, scoring 190 points against a competitive NAIA and junior college field.

The Yellowjackets were paced by Rene Romero, who finished in 31:30.30 for 42nd overall and +32 team points. He was followed closely by Moses Ridley, who crossed in 32:11.16 to add +35 points. Ethan Ingram (33:00.52, +39), Matthew Patience (33:29.53, +41), and Xavier Rangel (35:10.98, +43) rounded out the top five scoring runners for Graceland.

The men's race was headlined by Ray Kosgei of MidAmerica Nazarene, who claimed the individual title in 26:55.29. Baker University captured the men's team championship with 44 points, while Benedictine (Kan.) placed second at 52 points, and Hastings secured third with 58.

Head coach Tom Shore noted the team's improvement from its season opener. "Today was a step in the right direction for what we are building towards - the conference meet in November. A lot of our athletes had big improvements from our last race and we're looking to continue building each subsequent race."

The Yellowjackets will race again on Friday, October 10th, at the Indian Hills Invite, held at the Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa, Iowa. The women's race begins at 4pm CDT.
