Yellowjackets Close Season Against Central Methodist

LAMONI, Iowa — The Graceland University softball team concluded its 2026 season Saturday with a doubleheader against Central Methodist (32-15, 18-8; 33-15, 19-8), falling 10-0 in five innings and 6-0 to close the year at 8-41 overall and 3-24 in conference play.

In game one, Central Methodist generated early offense with a seven-run first inning, finishing with 14 hits and 10 runs. Graceland recorded two hits, as Brooklynn Glasgow and Makenzie Leake each produced base hits, but could not advance runners into scoring position.

Game two saw improved offensive production, with the Yellowjackets totaling eight hits, including multi-hit performances from Paige Pieper (2-for-3) and Hallie Chamberlin (2-for-3). Graceland generated baserunners through contact hitting but was unable to convert in run-producing situations.

In the circle, Kaylee Henry and McKenna Kelley combined for seven innings, facing a Central Methodist lineup that produced 13 hits in the finale.

"It was such a great experience coaching these girls over the last few weeks," said interim head coach Brady McKillip. "This team stayed together, worked hard, and kept fighting all the way through the end of the season."

Saturday marked the final games of the season for the Yellowjackets, as McKillip will now begin the search for the next head coach in the coming weeks.

With the season complete, Graceland will not have a next scheduled contest.
