Makenzie Leake Earns All-Conference Recognition for Yellowjackets

LAMONI, IowaGraceland University junior Makenzie Leake was named Honorable Mention All-Conference when the Heart of America Athletic Conference released its postseason softball honors on Thursday.

A St. Joseph, Missouri native, Leake made a significant impact for the Yellowjackets as a pitcher/utility player, contributing both offensively and defensively throughout the 2026 season. She appeared in 47 games, making 37 starts, and posted a .338 batting average across 130 at-bats.

Leake totaled 44 hits, including eight doubles and one home run, while driving in 22 RBIs and scoring 17 runs. She recorded a .423 slugging percentage and a .413 on-base percentage, drawing 18 walks and striking out just 14 times, highlighting her disciplined approach at the plate.

Defensively, Leake remained a steady presence, registering 92 putouts and 20 assists with only three errors, finishing the season with a .974 fielding percentage. She also added two sacrifice flies and contributed on the basepaths with one stolen base.

Leake's all-around performance and consistency across multiple roles helped anchor the Yellowjackets throughout the season and earned her recognition among the conference's top performers.

The Heart of America Athletic Conference postseason honors highlight the league's most impactful student-athletes, with Leake representing Graceland among this year's selections.
