Women’s Golf Wraps Up Virginia McCoy Invite, Prepares for Conference Preview
PARKVILLE, Mo. – The Graceland University women's golf team concluded its latest competition at the Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational, hosted by Park University at The National Golf Club of Kansas City. Competing as individuals, Cydney Stables and Chloe Buckallew represented the Yellowjackets in a challenging field.
Stables led the Graceland duo, finishing in 49th place with a two-round total of +73 (37, 36). Buckallew followed closely behind, placing 50th at +78 (44, 34). Both players demonstrated resilience on a course that demanded precision and focus across both rounds of competition.
Head coach Kevin Brunner expressed pride in his players' efforts while emphasizing areas for improvement. "Cydney and Chloe showed perseverance against a competitive field. While we are making strides, our focus will be on refining our approach to reduce mistakes and capitalize on scoring opportunities. Both players are committed to pushing their games forward, and I'm confident we'll see continued growth," Brunner said.
The team competition saw Park University's A team claim victory with a combined score of +67, followed by Baker University at +73 and Truman State University at +87. Individually, Park's Micaela Suhl earned medalist honors with a two-round total of +7 (4, 3), showcasing consistent play across both days.
The Yellowjackets will now turn their attention to their final fall event, the Heart of America Conference Preview Tournament, scheduled for October 21-22. The tournament, hosted by Park University, will take place at the prestigious Jack Nicklaus Golf Club at Lions Gate in Overland Park, Kansas.
