Jean Sets School Record; Vandemark Wins Conference Title at Heart Indoors
MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Graceland University men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed Feb. 20-21 at the 2026 Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Championship at the NW Missouri State Hughes Fieldhouse, producing a school record performance on the men's side and a conference champion in the women's throws.

Tael Jean set a new Graceland school record in the 60 meters, running 6.82 seconds in the conference final after qualifying at 6.86 in preliminaries . Jean placed third overall and earned six team points. The performance met the NAIA provisional standard.
Kaeden Monday posted a time of 7.08 in the 60-meter preliminaries .
Brice Taylor competed in both sprint events, running 22.25 in the 200 meters and 49.80 in the 400 meters . Bradley Harris recorded 1:29.40 in the 600 meters .
In field events, Cole Milks registered 6.07 meters (19-11.00) in the long jump. Caden Israel competed in the pole vault.
Jean's podium finish in the 60 meters marked the team's highest scoring performance on the men's side.
Kady Vandemark captured the conference championship in the weight throw, recording a mark of 16.45 meters (53-11.75) . The throw earned 10 team points and met the NAIA provisional standard.
Vandemark also placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 12.94 meters (42-5.50) .
Amanda Newton placed fourth in the weight throw at 15.60 meters (51-2.25) and eighth in the shot put at 12.39 meters (40-7.75) . Kaydence Wynglarz added a fifth-place finish in the weight throw at 15.29 meters (50-2.00) .
Ambar Fulgencio finished second in the pole vault, clearing 3.10 meters (10-2.00) to earn eight team points. She also cleared 1.41 meters (4-7.50) in the high jump.
Alissa Caruso competed in the 5,000 meters, recording a time of 21:19.70 .
Head coach Tom Shore reflected on the meet performance.
"I'm extremely proud of how our team competed this weekend. A conference champion and conference runner-up on the women's side and a school record broken on the men's side. The women placed in the top half of the conference as a team upsetting a few schools along the way. This meet truly displayed how our new coaches have made an immediate impact on this program and we are excited to continue this momentum outdoor."
Graceland will next compete at the NAIA Indoor Track National Championship Day One on March 5 at 9 a.m. CST at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center in Gainesville, Florida.
