Vandemark Competes in Women’s Weight Throw at NAIA Indoor Championships

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. — The Graceland University indoor track and field season concluded Friday at the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center at Celebration Pointe. The Yellowjackets were represented on the national stage by senior thrower Kady Vandemark, who competed in the women's weight throw against the nation's top collegiate throwers.

Vandemark recorded a top throw of 15.09 meters in the women's weight throw, reaching the mark on her second attempt during the preliminary round of the national championship competition.

Competing in a deep national field, Vandemark gained valuable championship experience while representing the Yellowjackets on the national stage. Qualifying for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships marked a significant achievement, as only the top competitors across the association advance to the national meet.

Head coach Tom Shore praised Vandemark's effort and dedication throughout the season.

"We're extremely proud of Kady for qualifying for nationals and representing Graceland on the national stage," Shore said. "Making the national meet is never easy, and she competed with focus all season to earn that opportunity. We're excited about what's ahead as we shift our attention to the outdoor season, where she was an All-American last year."

With the indoor season now complete, Graceland will shift its focus to the outdoor track and field season. The Yellowjackets will open the outdoor campaign on Saturday, March 28, competing at the Central College Invite. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. CDT and will be held at the Kuyper Athletic Complex in Pella, Iowa.
