Vandemark’s Fifth-PlaceThrow Highlights Women at Pitt State Tune-Up

PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Graceland University women's outdoor track and field team competed April 19 at the Pittsburg State Tune-Up, highlighted by distance performances and a standout effort in the throwing events.

Kady Vandemark delivered one of the top performances of the meet for Graceland, placing fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.19 meters. Competing against a field dominated by NCAA Division II athletes, Vandemark was the top NAIA finisher, underscoring her competitiveness at a high level .

Senior Caitlin Grover recorded Graceland's top track finish, placing seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 13:35.35, maintaining consistent pacing through barriers and water jumps .

In the 1,500 meters, Lidya Haile posted a time of 6:26.72, holding steady splits throughout the race .

Graceland's throwers added depth across events. In the shot put, Hannah Kling (12.45m), Amanda Newton (12.30m) and Vandemark (12.16m) each recorded marks. In the discus, Newton (43.58m) and Vandemark (38.66m) contributed additional efforts.

Kaydence Wynglarz (45.65m), Newton (42.18m) and Camryn Talcott (37.90m) rounded out the hammer throw group for the Yellowjackets .

"Kady's performance stands out. Competing that well against a Division II field shows the level she's capable of. Overall, we're seeing good progress across our groups."

Graceland returns to action Friday, April 24, at the Grand View Viking Classic. The meet is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Duke Williams Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
