Yellowjackets Sweep Saturday Doubleheader at William Woods Invite

FULTON, Mo. — Graceland University women's volleyball secured back-to-back wins Saturday at the William Woods Invitational, defeating Justice College in straight sets and Haskell Indian Nations University in four. With the sweep, the Yellowjackets even their season record at 2-2 overall, while Justice drops to 0-3 and Haskell to 1-3.

Match 1 – Graceland 3, Justice 0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-23)
Graceland opened the day with a dominant sweep of Justice, hitting .253 and totaling 13 service aces in a match controlled by serve pressure and balanced attacking.

Grace Jensen led with 10 kills and six aces, while Kylee Dixon added five kills on 10 swings (.400). The Yellowjackets distributed offense across the front line, with Kaylee Baker (4 kills, .800) and Jenthe Van Kastel (4 kills, .667) each making efficient contributions.

The defensive effort was anchored by Shaeniah La Fountain (6 digs) and Madi Bratlie (8 digs). Graceland held Justice to just a .080 hitting percentage, forcing 17 attack errors.

Kariana Hernandez Cruz directed the offense with 12 assists, while Ella Thomas finished with 9.5 points, including four aces and five kills.

Match 2 – Graceland 3, Haskell 1 (26-28, 29-27, 25-18, 25-16)
In the afternoon session, the Yellowjackets overcame a narrow first-set loss to win three straight and close out a 2-0 day. Graceland posted a .219 attack percentage, peaking at .400 in set two and .321 in set four.

Jensen again paced the offense with 19 kills on .372 hitting, adding 12 digs and a block assist. Hernandez Cruz contributed 23 assists and three aces, keeping Haskell out of system and creating consistent scoring opportunities.

Graceland's serve game produced 14 total aces, with contributions from Sander (4), Hernandez Cruz (3), and Baker (2). Thomas added 9 kills and three aces, while Baker chipped in five kills and two block assists.

"A good day on the court and on the board," said head coach Stew McDole. "It is increasingly clear where our strengths lie. Serve and pass is our critical realm. We will cause some teams fits."

Graceland controlled the net with five solo blocks, including key denials from Baker, Dixon, and Thomas. The Yellowjackets held Haskell to a .048 team hitting percentage, capitalizing on 31 attack errors and 14 reception errors.

Set two proved pivotal, with Graceland erasing multiple set points to win 29-27. The Yellowjackets opened set three with a 9-2 run and pulled away in the fourth behind a service surge from Sander and clean transition offense led by Jensen and Thomas.

With the two wins, Graceland closes the William Woods Invite at 2-2 overall heading into the conference schedule.
